Moisture detectors can also be used, though they are less reliable for pet urine and are better used to determine how severe the problem is once found with the black light. For example, if the black light shows only a 6' pet urine spot on the carpet surface, but the moisture detector indicates that the pad is wet 12' out, you can be certain that the pet has gone there heavily and often and that the backing needs to be treated and the pad (cushion) replaced. The pet urine will spread out as it penetrates the backing and is absorbed into the pad and even into the wood or concrete.

In order to assure the removal of pet urine stains & odors from carpet, there are five factors you must be aware of and understand:

1- The level of severity will dictate the method of treatment and chemicals you will use.

2- Most failures to successfully and totally remove pet urine odor are due to using ineffective chemicals and/or not following the proper treatment steps. Failure also occurs when you underestimate the quantity of contamination.

3- There are pockets and porous areas within the carpet backing that once wet will not absorb or accept additional solution. This is a very important factor in successful odor removal treatment and is almost always a factor when treatment failures occur.

4- Even though many products available on the market claim to do the same thing, there is a vast difference in their level of performance and biochemical formulation.

5- It is imperative that you locate and treat all contamination or your success cannot be assured.

Note: If the carpet is delaminated, it should be replaced.

Start applying this procedure as soon as the stain occur, more time it is left on carpet, more it will be absorbed, especially if there is an under pad. ® Parsley (Petroselinum crispum) Just like alfalfa, parsley also has antibacterial properties in its chlorophyll. Moreover, parsley contains zinc in it which is known to have powers in reducing body odors.

® Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) Rosemary is an antibacterial herb. Hence it is used in several deodorants to kill the bacteria living on the body and make it odor-free.

* To remove ink stains, sponge them with detergent solution and then rinse thoroughly. If the stain remains, saturate it with cheap hair spray and blot the area. Or try alcohol, acetone, or non-oily nail polish remover and bleach that are safe for fabric, in that order.

* Dry brush mildew on the surface as best you can. Sponge it cautiously with disinfectant solution and blot. Sponge it next with ammonia and rinse. Attack the stain with chlorine bleach if it is safe for fabric; if not, use hydrogen peroxide.

* Mustard and ketchup stains should be scraped and blotted to remove as much as you can. Sponge these stains with detergent solution, then with vinegar or bleach, and rinse.

Remember, if bleaching is going to make the stain disappear, it is going to bring that about within fifteen minutes. Do not bleach a garment for longer than that, for it will make the fabric weak. Color removers are also available, but they tend to remove some of the color from the fabric itself as well.

The first ten steps in preparing to apply acrylic nails are the most important as these steps will determine success or failure:

1. Clean your hands and spray with anti-bac.

2. Push the cuticles back with an orangewood sticks/cuticle sticks.

3. Lightly buff the shine off the nail with a 100/180 grit file.

4. Apply the tip. Ensure you have selected the correct size for each nail, do this first and lay them out from large to small for each nail. Cut the tip to the desired length.

5. Run line eliminator across the seamline of each tip and blend with a file.

6. Gently buff the shine off the tip (do not do this if you are using airbrushed or tips with a design, only do this for natural coloured tips).

7. Remove all the dust from your nails with a nail brush.

10. Apply a dab of Primer to the centre of each nail on the natural nail part. Be careful not to get this on the cuticles and only a sparingly small amount is required. Allow to dry thoroughly. The primer sets down the chemical base for the acrylic to adhere to.

You are now ready to apply the acrylic:

1. Put a small amount of monomer (acrylic liquid) into a Glass dappen dish.

2. Dip the brush in about 2/3rds of the way into the monomer in the dish. Wipe the brush on the sides of the dappen to remove the excess liquid.

3. Drag the brush across the surface of the powder forming a medium ball.

4. Allow the liquid to absorb into the ball until a medium-wet consistency is achieved.

5. You are going to divide the nail into 3 parts to apply the acrylic, the top part = area 1, the middle = area 2, the edge of the nail = part 3. Apply the ball to area 1 being careful not to get any acrylic on the cuticle area (if you do this will eventually lead to lifting). Gently press the ball down and smooth out using the brush.

6. Repeat this process with areas 2 and 3, blending each area with the previous area and stroking downwards.

7. Apply one more thin layer over the entire nail.

8. Using the 100/180 file, shape the nail and using the 180 grit side of the file blend the acrylic down into the cuticle area.

9. Remove the dust with a nail brush.

10. Apply cuticle oil and rub into the cuticles.

11. Wash hands.

12. Apply two coats of a good quality top coat to seal.

There is one warning, when you purchase acrylic liquid be sure to ask the supplier if it is free of MMA. MMA is a harmful chemical which is banned in the USA because of the health risks it can cause. MMA also sets the acrylic compound too hard and this will damage your nail.
